Sun, Sea And Golf What More Could You Want From A Vacation Destination

Algarve is situated in the mild southern part of Portugal. This area has rich orchards and a legendary for its hospitality. This dramatic region offers the ideal climate for tourists as well as farming. The weather that you will find in the area is perfect for tanning and also for growing tasty fruit. Much like the rest of Europe, the rich history of this region has left a wide range of monuments of the past that can be visited. The pleasant and welcoming people of Algarve, together with the reasonably priced accommodation and food, makes it one of the most popular Mediterranean holiday destinations.

Algarve has a lot of tourist attractions, activities and day excursions to make your selection from. All of this you can choose according to the area that you are holidaying in. While visiting some of the historic sites you can breath in the landscapes and drive through the countryside if you want to. Or you can just head down to the beach for some sunbathing. Golf enthusiasts will discover quite a few top quality golf courses in the area. Golf makes up a big part of the tourist industry in Algarve - especially during the winter months.

You definitely have to visit some of the stunning beaches in Algarve when on holiday here. With its up to date facilities, Praia de Barril is the first choice for most of the tourists. The most romantic location is Algarve is most likely Praia da Armona. If you love sun and surfing, regardless if you take part or just watch, Meia Praia is almost certainly the destination for you. Here you will find several cozy cafes, tempting bakeries and elite restaurants, much the same as in the rest of Europe. Be sure to sample some of the local produce and genuine Portuguese cooking.

When you start to move inland, you will come across attractive examples of the Portuguese culture and history to discover. Faro is a very old town and one of the most liked holiday spots in the region. If you go there make sure you enter through the impressive Arco da Villa Town Gate. If you travel somewhat further, you will arrive at Sao Bras de Alportel with its well-known town market enclosed by almond orchards. There are plenty of almond groves all through Algarve. While here, make sure you enjoy a tasty meal on Pousada's patio while taking in the unbelievable view. If you go even further down, you will get to a 15th Century church called Igreja. It exhibits a dramatic facade and bell tower that symbolizes the classic local style. This is also home to an excellent compilation of local art.

Almonds are an enormous part of the region's agriculture, and in particular in the southern region. This region is known as the Garden of Portugal for a good reason. During the blossom season in late January and early February, the almond trees add a lot to the charming views across the countryside. Apart for the omnipresent almonds, you will also come across orchards filled with lemons, pomegranates, carobs, oranges and figs.
