In Scotland there are a number of different airports which visitors can fly into including Glasgow Prestwick which can be found on the west coast of Scotland. Anyone wishing to rent a van from here can do so from one of the four outlets within the airport or local suppliers close by. Glasgow is a short drive away from here and can be reached in 30 to 40 minutes which is only a short drive.
The main route from the airport to most towns and cities is known as the M77 north to Glasgow or the A77 south to Stranaer where you can board a ferry over to Ireland. Along the way south you will drive through many a pretty village and town before you reach your final destination.
Ayr is about 30 minutes or so from the your arrival point and is a popular tourist stop off in the area. A large town offering a great variety of shops for all sorts of souvenirs. There is a beach and play park along the promenade for you to enjoy your stroll along the beach. The town is busy in the summer with tourists visiting from all over the country.
Further south than Ayr is a town called Girvan. This little hamlet has a great fish and chips shop as well as lots of interesting local shops and a small harbour. Each Sunday there is a local band playing on the prom much to the crowd's delight which you cam listen to while Walking along the beach eating your local ice cream.
Just a short drive away from here will lead you into the famous golf course called Turnbury. Play a round of golf or have a few snaps of you standing at the club house before your cream tea is an ideal holiday reminder of your time along the west coast.
There are lots of ruins and historic sites to visit in this area including Culzean Castle and a few Robbie Burns sites which are dedicated to him.
